Sean Pham (of Sean Pham raps fame) and I were talking about these babies, Buddha machines. From what I know, each Buddha machine has eight tracks on it with stuff you can change, like pitch and stuff to adjust the synths/beats/dunno.
It looks nice. Very minimalist, as Sean Pham (of Sean Pham raps fame) would say. Plus, Brian Eno uses it. Who is Brian Eno? I don’t know, I like his album covers (from what I’ve seen).
So that’s option one.
What? There are options?
Yes, FOUR options that I have brought you here to discuss. The above is option one.
ESTIMATED COST: $26.99
CON: USES AA BATTERIES
Option Two:
We buy a pocky box, and an mp3 player, and one of those Hallmark cards that speak to you. Through hacks (from Instructables) we will use the Hallmark speaker as a normal speaker. Then, we load the synths into the mp3 player. Then we stuff the mp3 player, poke holes for the mp3 player buttons, hook it up to the Hallmark speaker, all together in the pocky box. And there, you have it, a home made Buddha machine.
EXCEPT WITH NONE OF THE COOL SYNTH ADJUSTING STUFF.
ESTIMATED COST:
Pocky: $1.99
Hallmark Speaker: $ean has one
Mp3 Player: $7
$8.99
PROS: This option is fun, but it might not work. And it’ll probably look ugly. BUT it would be so cool if we did it.
Option Three:
Hello Kitty
I’m a little embarassed about this one, because its the one I came up with, but there are some definite pros. Basically we buy a hello kitty mp3 player from ebay, one that has inbuilt speakers, rechargable battery. And then we load and play
Estimated Cost: $19.99
PROS: REUSABLE FOR WHEN WE GET OVER THIS AMBIENCE PHASE
CONS: ugly?
but to be honest i’ve always had a thing for these things.
Option Four:
Meditate, find the synth within.
Estimated cost: Unestimatable
